go power 50 amp automatic transfer switch

This transfer switch has been pre-wired to automatically change the primary source of AC current from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. The switch includes (2) 50-amp legs, which allow you to use up to 100 amps on a shore power service. The legs are rated at 120V each and allow for 240V service. To prevent electrical interruptions, the time delay circuit board allows the alternate power source to stabilize before a transfer occurs. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

The metal case also has cord knockouts for connections.

Automatic Transfer Switch Installation

There are several wiring configuration options, depending on the electrical application inside your RV. These include installation between shore power and an on-board generator, an inverter and an alternating source, or even a hybrid system using another transfer switch for designated circuits.

Perfect replacement as ordered. Quick delivery and great customer service.

I converted a system where I had to plug my shore line into a separate socket for the generator. This meant I was always wrestling with the 20' shore line in it's storage compartment. Adding this switch allows me to have a totally separate shore line that I can store much easier. Switching from shore power to generator is now a breeze

New switch has held up to the rest of time. Not having to plug my shore line into a socket to use the generator has been a true convenience. I can now easily shift to a lighter gauge shore line depending on power needs. If I dont need my AC I can get away with a simple and light weight 12 gauge line.

Worked great, better built than my original one.

Thanks

Very good service , Kimberly was very helpful in getting me what I needed. This is my go to for parts. The waist to get it in the mail ok . Thanks again Ken

One important thing I learned from this adventure is that 30 Amp outlets for dryers and electric ranges are not wired like 30 Amp outlets for RVs. The RV outlet is wired as single phase 120 volt service while 30 Amp outlets for dryers and ranges are wired for dual phase 208 Volt service. Sadly, I only learned about the different wiring scheme after I had fried my RVs originally installed ATS and the new ATS I received from etrailer. It took a lot of troubleshooting and testing, along with some intense internet surfing, for me to learn why I had thoroughly destroyed two ATSs. So, for future purchasers of RV ATSs I recommend validating the wiring of the service outlet they plan to use. It was a $[XX] lesson for me, and that is just the cost for parts.

If it's any consolation, we have all made mistakes, Orin. Sorry all this had to happen. But thank you for sharing your experience! You just might save someone else from doing the same thing

Its all about great people. Paula is the reason along with her support team that E=trailer is number one. Right Parts on time.

I had a transfer switch fail in my 2005 Alpine coach. I replaced it with this unit. Was essentially a direct replacement. This unit was little smaller and had to make different ground legs, otherwise seamless install. If you read the reviews about buzzing and what not, just skip them. No noise no heat nothing but perfect transfer of power from gen to shore.

by:

Each time I have ordered from etrailer the product was as advertised, arrived in a timely manner and worked perfectly.

Great product

by:

Great product at great price. Original transfer switch was having problems, and no longer in production.

by:

Everything went smooth and Ashley was a great. She explained how much shipping was and got it out Next Day Air. Everything matched up at the end of the day with what she told me.

by:

Simple, effective. Did what I needed it. Takes a few seconds to transfer over, but expected.

by:

Well, I had to buy this last one to replace the one I bought from etrailer earlier this summer. That one tripped and went bad on me. Smelt like burnt plastic.

by:

Solid metal Box With easy diagram to follow for hooking up your connections. It can easily handle 6/3 wire.

by:

Order showed up a little early. Love that. Haven’t installed it yet but looking forward to it and expecting zero issues.

by:

Good product. No worries.

by:

Working good had no issues

by:

Seems to be working just as anticipated.

by:

Melissa was super helpful. Shipped on time and was a pleasure doing business with you!

  • How to Determine Correct Inverter for TV and Coffee Machine
I can definitely help you determine the correct inverter for your TV and coffee machine. To figure out the correct inverter, you simply need to know the amount of watts your TV and coffee machine use. While TVs don't generally consume much wattage, coffee machines use up quite a bit of energy, often over 1,000 watts. So I think you hit the nail on the head with the 2,000 watt Go Power Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter # 34278156. This would be the best option for your needs, and for...

  • How Does Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 Connect to Shore Power and Inverter
The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 that you are interested in was designed to automatically switch power sources between an inverter or an AC power source. You'd want to run the inverter you have now to this as well as the power source wiring from shore power and this would automatically take care of your AC power needs/switching. Basically your battery would connect to the inverter, the inverter to the # 34270278 and then the # 34270278 to your fuse panel. This does not...

  • Does Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch Have Switch to Remove Generator Delay
Hi Doug; I reached out to Go Power and the # 34270278 does not have a toggle to remove the delay for a generator. As it is, there is a preprogrammed 20-30 second delay so the generator has a brief warm-up period. They did say you can work around this by adding a shunt jumper to the timing board. The silk screen on the transfer switch has writing on it to indicate where to put the jumper. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Difference Between Go Power and Furrion RV Transfer Switches
Hey Rob, the big differences between the two transfer switch is that the Go Power part # 34270278 is made in the USA and has a metal case whereas the Furrion part # F50ATS is not made in the US and has a plastic case. This is why it costs less. Generally speaking the LiFEPo batteries do not require venting but you still want to check with the battery manufacturer to be certain.

  • Will the Go Power 50 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch Work w/ a 30 Watt Generator?
Yes, the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch item # 34270278 will work with your 30 watt generator when you are not hooked up to shore power. Since you're running an invertor with solar you will need two of the item # 34270278. You can't run three power sources with just one. I have linked a diagram below that will help you get set up.

  • How Can I Power My Camper From a Generator With the Hard Wired Watchdog Surge Protector?
As I am not sure of your specific camper there are a couple options to check out. First the Hughes Autoformers Ground Neutral Bonded Plug for Generators # HU33FR is designed to allow you to plug into your generator without causing the Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU27FR to fault. The plug inserts into an unused outlet on your generator to create a neutral to ground bond. The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 provides automatic power switching between two or three separate 120/240 volt AC input sources, including power cords, onboard generators, onboard inverters, or all three. • How To Wire 240v Generator Power And 120v Shore Power To A Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch
The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 lists in the instruction manual that the generator will be dominant power source so you would just need to wire the generator 240v to the generator input side and shore power 120v to the shore line input side. I've copied the wiring instructions below: 1. Connect the powercord neutral to the powercord lug labeled NEUTRAL WHT. 2. • Troubleshooting Low Power from Shore to Transfer Switch
It sounds like you have a short in your Power Cord wiring as there isn't anything between the power cord and the Go Power Transfer Switch # 34270278 as they are directly wired. I've attached a video of the Go Power Transfer Switch - Quick Connect - 30 Amp # 342GPTS which shows these connections. If you don't use and in-line circuit breaker like # CAM55306 then there has to be an issue with the wiring or the ground on the transfer switch itself.

  • Why is Transfer Switch Needed with RV that Uses Shore Power and Generator
The transfer switch is needed if you plan to use more than one AC power source for your camper. So if you use shore power from a camp site and also want to be able to use a generator you need the transfer switch like the part # 34270278. With DC power you can run more than one power source to a circuit and there's no issue but with AC power you can't run two power sources to same circuit at same time which is why the transfer switch is needed.
